Poetic pendant luminaire

Floating elegance: Neil Poulton’s Alambicco pendant luminaire opens up new ways of combining tradition and modernity.
If light seems to be floating gently in the room, it is most likely Neil Poulton’s Alambicco: the pendant luminaire turns technological sophistication into sensual elegance.
Here, masters of their craft are still proficient in using the traditional Balloton technique, whereby they emboss small pyramids with square bases into the molten glass before the glass body takes on its final shape in a second step. The result is a three-dimensional relief that gently breaks the light of the central LED and creates a brilliant play of reflections—absolutely glare-free.
With Alambicco, Scottish designer Neil Poulton has created a modular pendant luminaire that celebrates the beauty of mouth-blown glass. It plays with transparencies and textures and becomes the defining element of every space. Its modular design facilitates horizontal and vertical compositions. Alambicco can set the tone in private rooms or turn entire lobbies into light-infused landscapes.
Just as Neil Poulton himself combines poetry and technology, Alambicco is a fusion of industrial precision and individual craftsmanship. Poulton studied industrial design in Edinburgh and then completed a Master’s degree at the Domus Academy in Milan. His works have won numerous international design awards.
