Viva l’Italia
Milan
Bustling, lively and stylish, Milan is the beating heart of Artemide. Our showroom on the Corso Monforte is an ideal starting point for expeditions in this fashion and design metropolis.
Milan has more to offer than its cathedral or Da Vinci’s Last Supper. One of the most beautiful places is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (1), where you can experience authentic Italian aperitivo culture in the Bar Camparino (2).An aperitivo before dinner – with Aperol Spritz, Campari Soda and canapés – is a much-loved wind-down ritual before moving on to the city’s restaurants. Absolute must-sees: the artists’ district of Brera where painters, writers and designers live. The legendary Brera moccasin by shoemaker Fratelli Rossetti (3) is symbolic of the creative atmosphere in this part of the city. Incidentally, shoes by this cult brand can also be purchased at bargain prices in their factory shop in the suburb of Parabiago.
Insider tips
Anyone keen on discovering young design and the latest fashions can visit the central store La Rinascente (4) with its fantastic terrace and view of the cathedral. Getting hungry? Recommendations in Brera include the Trattoria Il Cestino (5), the Osteria di Brera (6)and the wonderful fish restaurant La Bottarga (7) in Via San Michele del Carso 19. Always tasty too, the delicatessen and store Eataly (8), where the culinary way of life and urbane design are creating something exciting and new – all beautifully illuminated by Artemide. And if you’ve had a bit too much of a good time the night before in a bar, you’ll be glad of a good coffee the morning after. Perhaps a classy breakfast or afternoon coffee in the fantastic bakery Giovanni Cova (9) in Via Cusani 10.
